This is a case I developed for use in two professional development workshops I offer, one in modeling, and the other on the relevance of Complexity Science to Evaluation.

As I tell the participants, I hope we never get to use this case because participants will bring so much of their personal evaluation experience to the training. But in case they don’t, I keep this in reserve.

The case is hypothetical. I made it up to resemble a plausible evaluation scenario, but which is elaborated to make sure it contains all the elements needed to explain the topics in the workshop. Few people (including me) have ever been involved in an evaluation that is as far-ranging as the one depicted in the case. But many evaluators have been involved in evaluations that are similar to parts of the example. And if any of you are like me, I bet you dreamed of being involved in an evaluation of the size and scope of the example.
